At the kind invitation of Prof. Dr. Hesham El-Barmalgy, Dean of the Faculty of Regional and Urban Planning at Cairo University, Dr. Tarek Waly, Founder and Chariman of the Center, gave a lecture entitled "Urbanism of a Historic City... Cairo between Geography and History". The lecture dealt with reading the study of urbanism and getting to know the city and its urbanism through the history of its society through; an intellectual approach that weaves the life cycle of the society and its culture into a comprehensive and successive urban heritage pattern that combines history and geography. From this methodology, we work to study the urbanism of Cairo with the aim of drawing a picture of the city through its geographical and historical dimensions through three axes: people, time and place.
The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members as well as undergraduate and graduate students who expressed their thoughts during the open discussion following the seminar. At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Hesham El-Barmalgy gifted Dr. Tarek Waly the honorary shield of the Faculty of Regional and Urban Planning at Cairo University.
