The Greater Cairo Library in Zamalek hosted the event "Seminar and Discussion of the book the Journey of Cairo from Statehood to the National Independence", during which Dr. Tarek Waly presented a summary of the center's latest publications, The Journey of Cairo from Statehood to the National Independence, which was issued in 2019 in four volumes to be a comprehensive encyclopedia of Cairo's architecture and urbanism since its founding until the mid-twentieth century.
Following the speech of Dr. Waly, a short film about the book and its content was screened, followed by critiques of a number of professors in architecture, urbanism, and history. The critiques began with the speech of Prof. Dr. Sayed El-Touny, Professor of Architecture and Urban Design, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, followed by Dr. Mohamed Afifi, Professor of History, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and concluded with a speech by Prof. Sameh Al-Alayli, former Dean of the Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning, Cairo University.
